ETC Eos consoles are industry-standard, sophisticated lighting control systems designed for theatre, live events, and television.
They offer a unified, command-line-driven software platform across hardware ranging from the flagship Apex to portable Nomad solutions. They feature robust multi-user networking, advanced color control, and deep, flexible programming tools for managing complex, large-scale, and automated lighting rigs.
It is your home through long hours of tech, a curated workspace designed to give you comprehensive control of your art – whether you’re controlling conventional lights, color-changing LEDs, or the largest mixed automated and media rigs. With the same software and programming layout throughout the family, you get a consistent experience whenever you sit down behind an Eos console.
Cost: $175.00 USD per day
Location: Room 521a | 5th floor of the Palais des congrès de Montréal
Language of instruction : The course is taught in French and English by a bilingual instructor. Please note that the working platform and the documentation provided are in English. Learn more about the instructor below.
Capacity: There will be total of 8 seats for each day | 4 consoles with 2 people seated at each console.

You can register for one or both of these sessions, depending on your needs and experience level.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. When a session is full, you can add your name to a waitlist. If anyone cancels, you will be notified of the available seat by ETC.
Class will be taught on an Ion Xe console, but is appropriate for all Eos family consoles (Element, Element 2, Ion, Ion Xe, Gio, Gio@5, Eos, Eos Ti and Apex).

All the basics to start working with your lighting desk.
Are you new to the Eos family of consoles and want to hit the ground running with your first show? Learn all the basics you will need to get started in our Essentials class. This class will give you a solid foundation with the Eos family of consoles and prepare you to grow your knowledge as you are ready.
Session Highlights:
- Understand display layouts and workspaces
- Patch conventional and multi-parameter fixtures
- Work with Groups and Submasters
- Record and playback Cues
- Control non-intensity parameters at a basic level
- Create and use simple Effects

Build on the basics for better programming.
Ready to move beyond the basics with your Eos family console? Build the skills you need to take your programming to the next level. Going beyond our Level 1 training, this class will get you going with additional features and functions of your console and get you on your way to programming like a pro.
!!! If you are a beginner, it is highly recommended that you take the Level 1 course before attending this Level 2 class. If you are unable to attend the Level 1 training in-person on Tuesday, Level 1 videos and the workbook are available online: http://www.etcconnect.com/EosFamilyVideos/Level-1/

- Understand display layouts and workspaces
- Record and recall Snapshots
- Record and recall Palettes and Presets
- Set up and use Direct Selects
- Take advantage of Discrete Timing and Multipart cues
- Create and use Relative and Absolute Effects
- Create and use a basic Magic Sheet
Typical schedule for each day
Please arrive before 9:00 am to check in and get settled.
- 9:00 AM – Class starts
- 10:30 AM – Short Break
- 12:00 to 1:00 PM – Break for lunch
- 1:00 PM – Resume class
- 2:30 PM – Short Break
- 4:00 to 5:00 PM – Class will end depending on overall class pace.
Instructor

Saturnin Goyer
Lighting technician, machinist and bender Saturnin Goyer has over 25 years' experience in Montreal's theater and dance industries. A member of Local I.A.T.S.E. 56 since 2001, he was appointed head electrician and programmer at Opéra de Montréal in 2015. Since then, he has provided important support to lighting designers and technical teams there, with an advanced mastery of stage equipment and a professionalism geared towards implementing creative and effective solutions.
As a freelance programmer and trainer, Saturnin offers a wide range of ETC training and support to professionals, with the aim of providing a tailored, bilingual (English/French) service that is rare in the industry. Since 2021, he has been teaching the Eos lighting console course at the National Theatre School of Canada (NTC-ÉNT). Among his achievements, he played a major role in integrating the new ETC consoles and systems for all Place des Arts theatres, helping to optimize major technical infrastructures.
