SUMMARY:PMArts & TDArts Discussion Series - Putting Anti-Oppression into
 Practice
DESCRIPTION:During the ‘pause’ forced on our industry by the global p
andemic, theatre companies and their practitioners across the country ha
ve been given an opportunity to take an honest look at ourselves and beg
in to actually listen to the individuals and communities who have histor
ically been under-represented, marginalized, excluded, and abused both p
assively and actively. \n\nMany companies and individuals have taken th
e first step in recognizing and acknowledging the historic and ongoing i
njustices, but are now left wondering what comes next. This session aims
to harness the power of the ‘hive mind’ of production managers and
technical directors across the country to identify the barriers we face
in implementing meaningful and lasting change, and potential approaches
to breaking those barriers down.\n\nLed by Boomer Stacy and Eleanor Ant
oncic from the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (PACT),
participants will first learn about the intent behind Article 10 of theÂ
Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA), and what PACT is doing to help put w
ords into action among their  member companies. Participants will then
separate into breakout rooms, each led by a moderator, to collaborate to
answer two key questions:\n\n* What are the top five challenges you are
facing in creating an Anti-Oppressive workplace?\n\n* How can you addre
ss those challenges and remove the barriers?\n\nBreakout rooms will be o
rganized by affinity groups based on level of experience, typical venue
size, and level of authority to implement change to ensure a diversity o
f responses. Following each breakout session, each moderator will presen
t a summary of their room’s work to all attendees. \n\nThe goal is fo
r all participants to gain a greater understanding of the barriers that
are faced, and share ideas, best practices, and tactics to create access
ible, equitable, inclusive, and diverse workplaces.\n\nIn order to ensur
e the participation from as many voices as possible, we are accepting do
nations to provide space for those for whom the cost of admission is a b
arrier.\n\nTranscription and ASL interpretation available upon request.Â
Please let us know if you have any other accommodation requests\n\n**
This session will not be recorded.  Notes will be taken and will be mad
e available to all those who registered, whether you attend or not.\n\nD
