Greetings everyone! Rendez-vous 2016 in Winnipeg was a time for recognition, reconciliation and celebration
	In recognition of the traditional inhabitants of the territory on which we held our event, CITT/ICTS Rendez-vous 2016 wishes to acknowledge that we met on Treaty #1 Territory and the homeland of the Metis Nation. Manitoba (where the Creator sits) encompasses the traditional territories of the Cree, Ojibwe, Dakota, Ojibwe-Cree, Dene peoples, and the Inuit. The opening and closing ceremonies were performed by Albert McLeod a Status Indian with ancestry from Nisichawayasihk (Knee-Sich-Awaya-Seek) Cree Nation and the community of Norway House in northern Manitoba.
Rendez-vous 2016 was a great conference and it was wonderful to be back in a performing arts venue for the week. Many thank to Bill Nuhn and all his staff at the Centennial Concert Hall for welcoming us in their fabulous venue: the trade show was held on the stage, the meals served in the Piano Nobile, sessions in the first level lobbies and rehearsal hall. Opening night and Junk Challenge was hosted by the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. The theme, concocted by Ben Ross and Russell Martin was to build a maquette for a Canadian play and boy do our members have talent! Swag Bingo was zany as usual and raised over $3000 - a portion which will be distributed to both Behind the Scenes and The AFC charities. The CITT/ICTS awards presentation was an unforgettable and emotional evening and captured the essence of recognition, reconciliation and celebration. Le Rendez-vous 2016 à Winnipeg fut un moment pour la reconnaissance, la réconciliation et la célébration.
	En reconnaissance des habitants traditionnels du territoire sur lequel nous avons organisé notre événement, CITT/ICTS Rendez-vous 2016 tient à souligner que nous avons tenu notre événement sur le Territoire du Traité n° 1et la patrie de la nation métisse. Manitoba (où le Créateur est assis) englobe les territoires traditionnels des peuples Cri, Ojibwe, Dakota, Ojibwé/Cri, Déné et des Inuits. Les cérémonies d'ouverture et de clôture ont été réalisées par Albert McLeod, Indien de statut avec ascendance de Nisichawayasihk (Knee-Sich-Awaya-Seek), de la nation Crie et de la communauté de Norway House, dans le nord du Manitoba.
Le Rendez-vous 2016 fut une belle conférence et nous étions très heureux d’être de retour dans une salle de spectacle pour l’événement. Un grand merci à Bill Nuhn et à tout son personnel au Centennial Concert Hall de nous avoir accueillir dans leur magnifique salle : le salon commercial s’est tenu sur la scène, les repas ont été servis dans le Piano Nobile, les ateliers dans les foyers du premier niveau et dans la salle de répétition. La soirée d’ouverture et le défi Bric-à-brac ont eu lieu au Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Le thème, concocté par Ben Ross et Russel Martin était de construire une maquette d’une pièce canadienne et force est de constater que nos membres ont du talent! Le Bingo-Butin fût comme d'habitude loufoque et a permis de ramasser plus de 3000 $ donc une part sera distribué aux organismes de bienfaisance Behind the Scenes et The AFC. La soirée inoubliable de la présentation des prix CITT/ICTS fut chargée d’émotion et a su capturer l'essence de la reconnaissance, de la réconciliation et de célébration. Comme une image vaut mille mots, je vous invite à voir ci-haut le montage photo de l'événement. Nous vous attendons l'an prochain à Saint-Jean au Nouveau-Brunswick du 9 au 12 août 2017!

CITT/ICTS 2016 AWARDS RECIPIENTS LES LAURÉATS DES PRIX CITT/ICTS 2016
The Dieter Penzhorn Memorial Award is awarded to an Individual who has provided significant and sustained service to CITT/ICTS while playing an active role in the development of the greater Canadian cultural community. The 2016 award was presented to the Don Parman // Le Prix commémoratif Dieter-Penzhorn est remis à un particulier pour son engagement significatif et soutenu au sein de CITT/ICTS et pour sa contribution active au développement de la vie culturelle canadienne. Le prix 2016 a été attribué à Don Parman	President Adam Mitchell & Shawn Hines accepting the award on Don's behalf // Le président Adam Mitchell avec Shawn Hines, qui accepte le prix au nom de Don.

The Education Achievement Award is awarded to an individual, in recognition of longstanding career achievement as an educator. This individual is engaged in the teaching of a technical or related discipline, while preparing students for work within the Canadian live performance industry. The 2016 award was presented posthumously to Mike Taugher // Le Prix d’excellence en éducation est attribué à une personne pour souligner l’ensemble de sa carrière dans l’enseignement des arts de la scène et dans la préparation des étudiants à œuvrer dans le milieu du spectacle au Canada. Le prix 2016 a été décerné posthume à Mike Taugher	Colleague and close friend, Tim Johnson, shared a poignant tribute to Mike and accepted the award on his behalf // Collègue et ami, Tim Johnson, a partagé un hommage poignant à Mike et a accepté le prix en son nom.

The Ron Epp Memorial Award for Professional Achievement is awarded to an individual, in recognition of longstanding career achievement in a technical or related discipline within the Canadian live performance industry. The 2016 award was presented to Rick Boychuk. // Le Prix commémoratif Ron-Epp pour l’excellence professionnelle est remis à un particulier pour souligner l’ensemble de sa carrière dans le domaine technique ou dans une autre discipline liée aux arts de la scène au Canada. The Award of Technical Merit is awarded to a production company or Theatre, or a combination thereof, for outstanding achievement in the use of theatre technology on a specific project or production. The 2016 award was presented to Rick Boychuk and his company Grid-Well Inc. // Le Prix du mérite technique est attribué à une compagnie de spectacles ou à un théâtre, ou une combinaison des deux, pour l’intégration et l’utilisation remarquables de technologies scéniques innovatrices dans un projet ou une production en particulier. Exceptionnellement cette année, le prix a été décerné à Rick Boychuk et à son entreprise Grid-Well Inc. The Supplier (Corporate) Achievement Award is awarded to an individual, or a corporate entity, which has shown sustained commitment to providing excellent service and/or product(s) to the Canadian cultural industries community. The 2016 award was presented to Ultratec Special Effects // Le Prix d’excellence fournisseur (société) est remis à un particulier ou à une entreprise pour son engagement durable à offrir des produits et des services d’excellence au milieu culturel canadien. Le prix 2016 a été décerné àUltratec Special Effects	President Adam Mitchell with Marnie Styles, Ultratec special effects Vice-President & Rachelle Robson, Inside Sales Specialist // Le président Adam Mitchell avec la vice-présidente d'Ultratec Special Effects, Marnie Styles, et la spécialiste du marché intérieur Rachelle Robson

The Honorary Membership Award is awarded to an individual or organisation not actively involved in the technical disciplines of the Canadian live performance industry, but who by virtue of their position has contributed significantly to the development of technical disciplines within Canada. This contribution can be seen through the recipient's decision-making, influence, and philosophy within the community or by showing themselves to be a longstanding friend of the Institute. The 2016 award was presented to the Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance (IPAA) // Le Prix membre honorifique est attribué à un particulier ou à une organisation qui, sans y être activement engagé, a contribué au développement et à l’avancement des arts et des technologies scénographiques au Canada. Cette contribution se distingue soit par ses prises de décisions, par son influence et sa philosophie, soit par le maintien d’une relation bienveillante avec l’Institut. Le prix 2016 a été remis à Indigenous Performing Arts Alliance (IPAA)	President Adam Mitchell & Cole Alvis, IPAA executive director, accepting his award // Le président Adam Mitchell avec Cole Alvis, directeur exécutif de la compagnie IPAA qui accepte son prix. As the closing words of the awards presentation faded, we all turned to the screen. The first notes of the song Fifty Mission Cap resounded in the room, on stage the lights illuminating the band with Gord leading The Hip, and all of us, on an epic and unforgettable 3-hour journey. Alors que les mots de clôture de la présentation des prix s’estompaient, nous nous retournions vers l'écran. Les premières notes de la chanson Fifty Mission Cap retentissaient dans la salle. Sur scène les lumières éclairaient les musiciens et le chanteur Gord, qui transportait The Hip - et nous tous - vers un inoubliable voyage épique de 3 heures.

COORDINATION ASSISTANT; TIME TO CHANGE //

ASSISTANTE À LA COORDINATION; LE TEMPS DU CHANGEMENT

After spending a great year with CITT/ICTS we are sad to announce that Sara is leaving to pursue new adventures. She will fly out of Montréal on Tuesday to spend a few weeks globe-trotting before returning to complete her Masters in Environmental Impact Assessment and begin the hunt for work in the environmental field.

However, we are thrilled to introduce you all to Géraldine Piguet, who will be stepping into the position of Coordination Assistant. Géraldine is a young cultural action professional. After completing a Masters in European Cultural Policies and Management two years ago at the Paris 8 university she has worked in the production of cultural events, notably film festivals, and in the not-for-profit sector.

Après avoir eu la chance de travailler aux côtés de Sara durant l’année qui vient de s’écouler, nous sommes au regret de devoir la laisser partir vers de nouvelles aventures. Elle s’envolera mardi prochain pour quelques semaines de voyage autour du monde, avant de revenir à Montréal pour terminer sa maîtrise en Évaluation d’Impact Environnemental et de se lancer par la suite à la recherche d’un emploi dans son domaine d’activité.

Néanmoins, nous sommes heureux de vous faire part de l’arrivée de Géraldine Piguet, qui viendra la remplacer au poste d’assistante de coordination. Géraldine est une jeune professionnelle de l’action culturelle qui après avoir obtenu une maîtrise de Politique et Gestion de la Culture en Europe il y a deux ans à l’université Paris 8, a travaillé dans le domaine de la production d’évènements culturels, notamment de festival de cinéma, et dans le secteur communautaire.
